Marjorie Lee Bevis (Marbling with Acrylics)
About the Artist
Marjorie has been marbling for over 15 years. She marbles paper and fabric and is fascinated with the colorful and unique designs. She has explored new possibilities and created her own methods of bringing color, intricacy and brilliance to a much higher level than had previously existed. Some of the world's greatest quilters have featured her fabric. Her work has been shown in numerous quilting magazines, in Sylvia Landmans’ book, Making Quilting Pay For Itself, and she has demonstrated her technique on the Carol Duvall Show. Marjorie has had the opportunity to teach every age group in Turkey, Holland, Denmark, and the U.K., as well as many places in the U.S.
Grade Levels
1st - Adult
Teaching Objectives
Students will be able to marble a variety of patterns on both fabric and paper. They will also be able to use their marbling in a project.
Staff Development
There are many follow up projects that could easily be supervised by teachers and volunteers. Some of the projects I have undertaken have been embellishing marbled paper with found objects and putting on a show of students work. I have also worked with students to create a finished quilt which we hung in a public place, sold raffle tickets, and funded additional projects or used the money for scholarships for low income students. There is a large variety of ways to utilize hand marbled fabric and paper.
Facility/Supplies
Approximate cost per child is $10.
Home Stays
Not required in Douglas County.
